Right here,

      attend the blossoming . . .

MY PHILOSOPHY
I believe in the innate goodness and intrinsic health of each person.  I respect that each individual is the expert and authority of their inner experience.  I honor behaviors and defenses (or protections) as intelligent responses that the mind-body and nervous system developed to cope with and to survive stressful, challenging, or traumatic life experiences.

I believe that within each of us, stored within the wisdom of the body, is a "map" that can lead us back to wholeness and health.  We can think of this map as imprinted within us at the time of the original stress or trauma and saved for later, until we are ready.  With the guidance and support that therapy offers, we can discover this map together and begin (or continue) to uncover and reveal the truths embedded within, truths that will guide you back to your fullest and highest Self.

I believe deeper and integrated healing happens in the body, within the felt-sense ~ body sensations are a portal and pathway to holistic healing.
MY APPROACH
I create a safe space for your self-discovery and authenticity.  I also hold space for you to unburden.  As a witness to your process, journey, and unfolding, I am gentle, open, accepting, and curious.

My approach is relational and client centered.  I listen deeply and attune to you.  I mirror back and offer empathic reflection so you are able to connect to your feelings, needs, longings, desires, truths, inspiration, and power.  When we are seen and heard, when we are gotten and feel felt, there is greater potency for healing and transformation.

My approach is also somatic.  I sense and tune in to what is present in the relational field.  I listen to the wisdom of my own body and allow my intuition to guide me.  At the same time, I invite you to tune in to your own body, to notice and be curious about the voice of your body and the way it speaks to you through sensations, feelings, emotions, energy, imagery, and more to facilitate you in your connection of body and mind.

I allow space for emergence in our sessions.  I turn toward what arises in the present moment with curiosity and openness for exploration.  When we “go live” and work with what arises in the present moment, there is increased potential for re-wiring our brains.  Therapy provides an opportunity to heal the past in the present so we can write a new future for our lives.

I draw from and incorporate mindfulness, narrative, cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, motivational interviewing, attachment, interpersonal neurobiology, and psychodynamic therapies along with depth psychology, Somatic Experiencing, The Hakomi Method*, and Internal Family Systems.

*Hakomi is a gentle, nourishing, mindful method of assisted self-study that weaves in aspects of Internal Family Systems and through that process, facilitates relational repair of beliefs or wounds of the past that are playing out in our lives today in our bodies, minds, behaviors, and more.

To understand your life in a broader context and to gain insight into how your past has shaped your present, our conversations will include an exploration of your family and culture of origin.
